Erika Faye grew up in Laguna Niguel, CA and graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2007 with a B.A. in Literature/Writing. She spent 2 years teaching literature and writing in South Korea and then moved to Los Angeles where she joined staff for 7 years at a local church overseeing the communications and youth ministry departments. In 2015, while on vacation in Europe, she felt God ask her to consider working with the refugee/migrant crisis. She returned 6 months later in 2016 with Engage the Crisis to work in relocation centers in Germany as an intern overseeing the media projects. When she returned home, she felt the call to leave her full-time job and begins to build her freelance writing career while also focusing on the migrant/refugee crisis. She is currently working on a project called Refugee Road Home which seeks to engage with the deeper questions of the nature of home- what is it? how do you build it, and how do you rebuild it if it’s been destroyed? She is also a staff writer for Transform Our World in San Jose, CA.
