Steve and his friend Ray Fisher are launching a new monthly series of informal gatherings called “Friday Fireside with Father!” The second in this “warm-hearted” series (on every 4th Friday) is May 22, 2020, in Torrance, CA.
Each evening with be reminiscent of delightful fireside “times of old” with “Grandpa” as he tells stories (some may be “whoppers!”), shares wisdom and encouragement, offers gentle advice, and listens intently to the “youngins” in the household. Throughout the “safe” and non-recorded gatherings of younger people of all ages (mostly above 16, up to 96), emphasis will be placed on probing the heart of Abba (Father God) who is the most delightful Father of all!
The purpose of these meetings is to provide a little of what is so sorely missing in today’s households: quality time with resident grandparents who can give godly insights and wisdom, and provide “safe” ears to the questions of younger family members, as a support to the primary parenting responsibilities of mom and dad. There is no agenda, no prepared “teaching,” and no lecturing. Only an invitation to all to feel free to suggest to their friends and siblings, “Let’s go ask Grandpa!”
Steve will be leading jointly with Ray and other “mature” fathers who will occasionally be able to join in.
This series of gatherings is part of Steve’s focus on helping with the “Restoration of Fatherhood.” Keep on the lookout for more events connected with this growing movement.
